What We Do

Philip...

After getting married, Kelly and I focused on both ministry at home in the form of a small-group ministry (that eventually grew into a church plant) and in pursuing a missionary calling through a mission agency called World Team.  Over the intervening years I have had the opportunity to preach and teach as well as minister and mentor several people who felt called to full time ministry within that small group environment.  In recent years I had the honor of serving as an elder alongside one of these wonderful people, my brother Danny, as our small group ministry took the next step forward into a church-plant.  That season of service and life in the United States was wonderful.

Now Kelly and I look forward with hope and faith at our future in Cameroon working among the Baka people to build up a native church which will grow exponentially and glorify God through trust and obedience to His Son, Jesus.

Kelly...

In California, Philip and I were blessed with many opportunities to minister together.  We loved being able to pray for, counsel and love God's people.  We even got the chance to help our small group transition into a church plant, which was an awesome time of seeking and trusting the Lord for and with His Church.  One of my favorite ministries at home was having the privilege to walk with a few close women friends as they mature in their relationships with the Lord.

It wasn't easy for us to leave these close relationships and move to Africa but we know that God has called us to join our brothers and sisters in Cameroon.  We are ready to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ to the Baka through our love for them and for the Lord Himself.

Together...

We strive to grow in our marriage, putting God first.  We believe in Paul's godly advice in his letter to the Ephsians: "Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord" and "Husbands, love your wives just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her."  Although we are called to be missionaries we are first called to be disciples of Christ and secondly, to love one another as Christ has commanded.  We believe that marriage is God's example to the world of His great love.

We will discover, and you can discover with us, how the Lord will use us here among the Baka people.  Our first tasks at hand are to learn the Baka language (so we can communicate!) and to learn the Baka culture (so we will have appropriate context for that communication).  We hope to share our lessons and progressions with you, our friends, through this website!
